| Position | On roster | Sr + Gr (departing) | Returning | Opening signal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forward F | 15 | 1 | 14 | Low |
| Defense D | 8 | 1 | 7 | Low |
| Goalie G | 3 | 0 | 3 | Low |
How the openings estimate works
Estimate: departing = players listed as seniors or graduate students at that position; signal compares them with everyone at the position whose class is listed (high: at least 2 and at least 40% departing; medium: at least 1 and at least 20%; low: fewer). Based only on the published roster.
- Does not account for transfers, early departures, injuries, walk-ons or players already committed.
- Seniors without a stated redshirt may still have a year of eligibility left; the roster page does not say.
- Coaches recruit for need and fit; an opening is not an offer.
Counts come from the official roster page as published; individual players are never stored or shown here. Open the official roster for names.

How to email a ice hockey coach
Coaches read hundreds of emails a week. The ones that get answered are short, specific and easy to act on.
- Email the right personAt big programs, the recruiting coordinator or the assistant who covers your position reads recruit email first. At smaller schools the head coach usually does. Copy both when in doubt.
- Put the essentials in the subject lineGrad year, position, hometown and one standout number. Example: "2027 OF · 6.6 60-yd · 3.9 GPA · Columbus, OH".
- Keep the body under 150 wordsWho you are, why this program specifically, your key stats and academics, and a link to highlights and schedule. One ask: "Would you be open to a call?"
- Link, don't attachAttachments get stripped and go unopened. Link your highlight video and a profile page the coach can skim on a phone.
- Follow up in 7–10 daysReply to your own email with a new result or an upcoming game or showcase the coach can watch. Two polite follow-ups is normal; five is not.
- Know the recruiting calendarCoaches can read your email during a dead period, but they may not be able to reply the way you expect. Check the NCAA calendar for your sport before you worry about silence.
